Is Black Friday a Holiday?

 

What’s a holiday anymore? I mean all we do is worry about what we’re going to buy for the ones on the list we need to check off. Thanksgiving, a nation holiday, thanksgiving is a holiday that you take advantage of to spend time with your loved ones and be thankful.

Over the past few years Black Friday has completely deleted thanksgiving from the calendar. Black Friday is what basically represents thanksgiving now.  You see it in the newspaper, the ads and as soon as November starts, thanksgiving commercials are all for black Friday. Black Friday has been going on since 1924, when Macey’s held their first thanksgiving parade.  Black Friday is one of the most busiest and popular shopping days of the year. The prices go down and the sales go up. It started to get out of hand in the late 2,000s when stores were even opening at 4am till close, even on thanksgiving.





 

So, what’s the point of the holiday? Instead of spending it with your family or making memories you’re fighting over a simple toy or item thaas a few dollars off. People have been shot, stabbed and some killed, it’s a scary event if you ask me; it was never intended to be. Black Friday represents greed and that’s not he meaning of Christmas or the holiday. It’s good to be able to have the opportunity to get a gift on sale to save money, but you shouldn’t represent black Friday because that’s not a holiday, is not on the calendar.
